Take a Journey from Violence to Safety

McAuley Community Services for Women runs McAuley Care, the only 24/7 accessible safe house for women experiencing family violence in Victoria. Last financial year, 183 women with 174 accompanying children sought our support.

Each year our 24/7 Special Events Committee organises an incredible event to raise $100,000 to keep the safe house open around the clock. Without this, the safe house would only operate during business hours.

We invite you to take a “journey from violence to safety”, and experience the emotions along the way as you learn more about what it takes to take the courageous first steps to safety and hope, and the essential role that McAuley Community Services for Women plays.

It costs $1,000 for a woman and her child/children for a week at McAuley Care. This covers:

  • safe accommodation and food for seven days;
  • access to advice on medical, legal, schooling and housing services;
  • initial counselling; and
  • children access a play room, providing some ‘normalcy’ in a time of crisis.
