What is the Catherine Circle?

The Catherine Circle, a very significant giving circle, is a group of people who are passionate about supporting McAuley Community Services for Women and its works with women who are homeless as well as women and children experiencing family violence.

Its aim is to raise $100,000 each year, which will be invested into a program or service run by McAuley Community Services for Women.

Catherine Circle Winning Project for 2017

The Catherine Circle will fund research to determine how well McAuley’s specialist children’s program is working in its aim to strengthen bonds between mothers and their children while receiving support from McAuley Care.

The Strengthening the mother-child bond for McAuley Care families project will explore the effectiveness of the Family Therapeutic Art Intervention sessions at improving the mother-child bond for families of the McAuley Care service.

Reports on 2016 Catherine Circle Projects

In 2016 two projects were funded by the Catherine Circle.  The first project was an analysis of Safe at Home where McAuley Care aims to work collaboratively with other organisations to ensure women and children can return home safely, with the perpetrator of violence removed from the home. Click here to read the report.

The second project was an evaluation of the McAuley Works program that ended in 2015 due to a lack of funding.  We wanted to find out more from previous clients about their current employment status and history, their level of financial independence, and their opinions of the program. Information from this evaluation is being used in the current McAuley Works program. Click here to read the report.

How the Catherine Circle works

Each year there will be an annual gathering of the Catherine Circle. McAuley Community Services for Women will introduce two high priority projects, which require funding.

Catherine Circle members will vote by ballot for one of the projects. The project with the highest votes will be supported for the year.

How the funds are invested?

All donations to The Catherine Circle are tax deductible. They are pooled and invested into a high yielding interest account.

How do I become a member?

Individual members are asked to make an annual gift of $1,000 for three years.

Simply fill in the online form and we will send you a tax-deductible receipt.

You will become a voting member with all the benefits outlined.

What if my friends or colleagues want to form a group?

That is fine. You could give as a family, a couple, book group or a work syndicate.

In order to have a vote, though, your group will have to nominate the ‘voting member’ and you have to donate $1,000 as a group.

We will need individual names in order to supply tax-deductible receipts.
