McAuley House enjoys a magical weekend away

McAuley House residents recently packed their overnight bags and took a road trip to Apollo Bay, thanks to a City of Melbourne community grant.

"It really was the perfect weekend away," Laura*, a McAuley House resident, said.

"The Otway Fly Treetop Walk was definitely the highlight for me as I overcame my fear of heights."

"We all loved the time we spent at the beach and driving along the Great Ocean Road. Taking in the stunning scenery made me feel so relaxed and happy."

"After experiencing homelessness, the trip away made me feel like life is beautiful again and I can look forward to the future."

Leonie Lawrence, Recreational Worker at McAuley House, said overnight trips gave the residents time to bond, relax and rejuvenate.
