Engaging with communities

It has been a busy few weeks for McAuley Community Services for Women staff who have been talking with a variety of community groups about the different aspects of our work.

CEO Jocelyn Bignold spoke recently at Maurice Blackburn’s Ringwood Lady Lawyers Lunch about our work to change legislation and policy on issues from migration law through to family violence leave.

She also presented to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria about our input into potential changes to the Residential Tenancies Act Review, the importance of real estate professionals understanding and receiving professional education about family violence and its effect on tenants and their employees.

She was also part of an important panel discussion on "The role of healthcare in managing domestic violence" at St Vincent's Hospital with Ian Grisold CEO of SVPHM, Robynne Klynne, Educator Domestic Violence SVPHM, and Jacquie O'Brien CEO of Tweedle Child and Family Service.

Penny Underwood, our advocacy and communications consultant, discussed our Court Support 4 Kids program at a fundraising luncheon at Green Acres Golf Club, the importance of McAuley’s 24/7 accessible safe house at a Spring Racing Fashion luncheon held by MLC, and about the Catherine Circle with the Rotary Club of Canterbury.

Our staff are always available to talk about our work link. Invite us to speak.
