Rebecca Maddern, our 2016 High Tea Appeal patron
Rebecca Maddern, Channel 7 news presenter, is Patron of our High Tea Appeal again this year. Rebecca was the face of our inaugural appeal in 2015 and helped raise $30,000.
We are now registering hosts for our 2016 #HighTeaAppeal in May and June. Last year we raised $30,000 and gained many new friends from this deliciously easy, but tasty way of raising funds to keep women and children safe. This year, we are aiming for $60,000. As patron, Rebecca is encouraging last year's High Tea participants and new people to host a High Tea. It can be grand, simple, in your own home, on a train, in a church hall. Please register today.
As MC of our successful 24/7 cocktail party over the past two years, Rebecca is well aware of the importance of the services we offer to women and their children escaping homelessness and family violence.
Rebecca agreed to be patron of our High Tea appeal because so many children and families will not be celebrating Mother’s Day this year because of family violence. So many mothers, sisters and daughters have been killed through family violence.
“I could not imagine life without my mum. She is simply the best mum in the world. She has a sixth sense; when I need someone to talk to you, magically the phone just seems to ring at exactly the right time,” Rebecca said
“She is my best friend and a beautiful, kind and caring mum to me and my two brothers.”
Rebecca enjoys an afternoon tea, but will make an extra effort during the appeal.
"I love to enjoy simple sandwich rounds at high tea. Thinly sliced cucumber served on brown and white bread with cream cheese. Don’t forget to remove the crusts!”
