Special Day for Nurses

When business woman Lina Cornell heard about McAuley Community Services for Women’s high tea appeal, she knew it was an opportunity to combine it with International Nurses and Midwives Day which falls on Tuesday May 12.

“Each year we celebrate International Nurses and Midwives Day at work. This year we will be raising awareness and funds for McAuley Community Services for Women,” Ms Cornell said.

As the Director of Surrey Hills based Victorian Nurse Specialists, Lina Cornell is well aware of the issue of family violence on any profession.

“Family violence affects more people than most realise. It affects the ability of many people to work and function on a daily basis,” she added.

“Family violence happens to people in all walks of life. We can all play a part in understanding and doing something about the issue”.

“I’m looking forward to our High Tea at work and encourage others to have their own High Tea, BBQ or anything that they feel comfortable doing”.

McAuley Community Services for Women provides much needed services for women and their children who are escaping family violence, and for women who are homeless. It is running a high tea appeal throughout May to raise funds to keep women and children safe. You can register your high tea here today. Or, if you are unable to organise a high tea, or to attend one, you can make a donation here.
